The Purpose of SGA:
Represent the Student Association with issues and policies that directly affect student life at State Fair Community College
Advise college committees on matters of student concern through student appointments and input
Act as a liaison between the college administration and the student body
Assist in planning activities and oversee the disbursement of funds to recognized student clubs and organizations

Expectations of All SGA Members:
SGA members will have a genuine interest in striving to improve the quality of student life at State Fair Community College, taking a proactive approach in their endeavors, and displaying ethical, positive, professional, and respectful conduct at all times.
SGA members have a responsibility to represent and meet the needs of the entire State Fair Community College population, meaning that individual members recognize the necessity to put individual bias aside in order for the good of the entire Student Association of State Fair Community College.

The College will provide annual $2,000 scholarship for the SGA President and $1,000 for SGA
Vice President and $500.00 for Senator at Large for each semester that they hold office. These will
be paid out at the end of each semester once semester obligations have been proven.

The SGA’s president requirements and responsibilities:

-Must be enrolled in classes for the entire 2024-2025 school year
-Run monthly SGA meeting
-Create and publish PowerPoint and Agenda for the monthly meeting/
-Run weekly SGA officer meeting
-Plan, organize, and run monthly SGA event
-Communicate with club/org representatives as needed
-Assist SGA advisor with planning and running homecoming
-Be willing and able to represent the student body when needed on campus committees-monthly college council meetings, strategic planning meetings, serve on the academic and student conduct appeals committee.
-Be available to SGA Vice-President, SGA Secretary, and SGA Advisor
-Create and maintain SGA office hours (1 hour per week)
-Commit 12 hours each month to SGA business and organizational commitments

The SGA’s vice-president requirements and responsibilities:

-Must be enrolled in classes for the entire 2024-2025 school year
-Attend monthly SGA meeting
-Assist President with PowerPoint and agenda for the monthly meeting
-Take meeting minutes
-Communicate with club/org reps as needed
-Be able to fill in when the SGA President isn’t able to attend college committee meetings requiring student input (see above for list)
-Help plan and implement SGA activities/events-attendance is required
-Be available to SGA President, SGA Secretary, and SGA Advisor when needed
-Commit 12 hours each month to SGA business and organizational commitments

The SGA’s secretary requirements and responsibilities:

-Must be enrolled in classes for the entire 2024-2025 school year
-Attend monthly SGA meeting
-Take and publish meeting minutes
-Communicate with club/org reps as needed
-Help plan and implement SGA activities/events-attendance is required
-Be available to SGA President, SGA Vice-President, and SGA Advisor when needed
-Commit 12 hours each month to SGA business and organizational commitments
